The ECA Fat Burner

You may have heard of the eca fat burner if you have looked at bodybuilding websites or tried to research drugs/supplements that can help you lose weight.  I’ll share with you a little bit about this drug and how it works.  But keep in mind that I am not a doctor or pharmacist and I am not qualified to give you medical advice.

The term “eca stack” stands for ephedrine, caffeine, and aspirin.  Taking these drugs together results in a synergy of sorts: the combined effect of the individual drugs is greater than any individual component taken alone.  The result is a powerful appetite suppressant and increase in energy.

What is the correct dosage for the eca stack?  It’s not that complicated: 200 milligrams of caffeine and 20 milligrams of ephedrine.  This combination can be taken three times a day.

The role of aspirin in this stack is much less clear.  Many of the subjects who first tried the stack were obese, and for whatever reason aspirin seemed to make it more effective for them.  But a lot of trainees who are not obese don’t really notice much difference.  Due to the potential for stomach upset it may be advisable to leave out aspirin altogether.  But if you really want to include it then I’d advise you to try smaller doses (like the “baby aspirin” that people take for their heart health).

What does the eca stack do?  As I mentioned, this stimulant will greatly decrease/suppress your appetite, making it much easier to stick to your diet.  Remember that no matter what kind of “fat burner” you use it will not work if you do not adequately lower your caloric intake.  This is probably the most significant effect of the stack–controlling your appetite.

But taking ephedrine/caffeine will also help your body to preserve lean mass.  There’s something about the activity of these drugs that coaxes the body to release its fat stores while encouraging it to keep the muscle.  This is exactly what the average trainee wants to happen when dieting.

Another mechanism of the eca stack is thermogenesis, the creation of heat.  You’ll notice that these drugs tend to slightly elevate your body temperature.  This helps to offset the metabolic slowdown that sometimes happen when you’ve been on a reduced calorie diet for long periods of time.

It should be noted that not everyone can tolerate this powerful stimulant combination.  Some people are just naturally more sensitive to these kinds of drugs and will find they get too shaky or nervous.  Others have medical conditions that would prevent them from safely using the stack.  That’s why its important to talk to your physician before you take anything.

Having said this, the ECA stack has a pretty good safety record overall, and many of the side effects to attenuate over time.  It’s worth considering if you are looking for something to give you a little extra help with your diet and exercise program.
